Last month THORZT sponsored the WA Chamber of Minerals and Energy Underground Mining Emergency Response Competitionin Kalgoorlie, WA. Held in the Mt. Charlotte site at Kalgoorlie’s famous Super Pit, the event attracted the best of the best from mine sites all over Western Australia.

The competition took place underground where teams faced the challenges of performing rescue operations in a dark, damp environment, and must work together to overcome the difficulties it presents.

Scenarios included fire fighting, first aid, search and rescue, rope rescue, team skills, incident management, breathing apparatus skills and theory.

The hands down favourite on the day was the new THORZT Ready to Drink product. Teams packed these into their eskies at the start of each day and took them underground. By mid-day they’d drank us dry and we had to rush to our back-up stash of electrolyte powder and frantically fill the coolers. These went down a treat with positive feedback on all five flavours.
